ASUS Eee PC Official, Sorta…

ASUS Eee PCThe Palm Foleo may have died a premature, untimely death, but the ASUS Eee PC lives on, and now its kinda official. ASUS has opened their official site and announced the line-up of the diminutive laptop. Ranging from 256MBs to 1GB of RAM and 2 to 8GB Solid State Drives (SSD) the only thing that’s missing is… the price. I poked around and was unable to find anything. There is this earlier story, which has some more info, but that’s it for now.

Now for the cool stuff. Its an Open Source machine, so it ships with Xandros Linux, and ASUS is embracing this with what looks like a pretty decked out site. Nicely, it also supports Windows XP, which means it will likely support the faster and lighter Windows 2000 Pro, as well. Its Bring Your Own License, though. It remains to be seen if it performs well. Stay tuned for the review.
