Hop-on Ships GSM/CDMA Mobile Handset
I have to admit I didn’t see this one coming. Hop-on has announced their new HOP2001 GSM and CDMA capable handset. They’ve also announced partnerships with AT&T and Verizon. As you can see, its a Windows Mobile 6 handset. What you can’t see in the picture is the Qualcomm 400MHz CPU, 256MB ROM, 128MB RAM, microSD slot, integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, TeleNav GPS, support for stereo Bluetooth 2.0, a 3MP camera, and a 240 x 320 display.
Where it gets wacky is mobile wireless support. This thing is decked out with radios for quad-band GSM, GPRS, and EDGE at 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, 3.6 Mbps tri-band UMTS and HSDPA at 850/1900/2100 MHz, and throws in CDMA2000 in case that wasn’t enough. Apparently you can also switch these on the fly. Wow. I don’t have any availability or pricing details just yet, but I’m working on them. More to come…
