AuthenTec has announced that they are now offering their new low-power fingerprint scanner, specifically designed for mobile phone applications. The new AES1711 offers possible improvements over the earlier AES1710 model, including more accurate fingerprint detection, faster recognition, the super cool TrueNav function which allows you to use the sensor to navigate menus, and consumes 88% less power than previous models. AuthenTec touts the sensors ability to treat the mobile handset as a secure wallet. Maybe one day.
