The Japanese have an interesting way of translating concepts and ideas into English. I’m a student of the language, and even I find this product description for the YP-P2 PMP to be a tad confusing:
“Calm judgment and advanced driving techniques are essential for operating the P2 properly. The P2 is clever and intuitive. The experience of immersing yourself in a 3” wide screen with a ratio of 16:9 is only possible with the P2. Bluetooth 2.0 supports 2 headsets, and DNSe2.0TM delivers Personal Theater into your hands. You can use Bluetooth even while watching a movie.”
Ok. The shame here is that it only comes in 2GB and 4GB versions. The display’s resolution is 480×272, as well. Kinda small for a theater experience which fits in your pocket. The YP-T10 is supposed to be an iPod Nano killer, as well, but it also only offers 2GB and 4GB models. What’s interesting here is that these units Bluetooth chips can handle multiple, concurrent A2DP connections and FM radio at the same time. These units are using Broadcom’s BCM2048 chipset. If I were speculating, I could say that since Apple like’s Broadcom, they may start integrating these chipsets into upcoming iPods. Only time will tell.

Yeah. I know this one is lame. I wrote it before realizing that it was a press release from the chipset maker and not Samsung. What’s with Broadcom for releasing this six months after Samsung released these players? Kinda lame. Anyway, the players are neat and so’s the idea behind the chipset. Just doesn’t make much content for a story. It has been rather slow of late.
