You can find all of the details at Certless. I have an event calendar over there, so I figured I’d use it! Sue me! Here’s the event data and here’s the MacDayLA site.

[UPDATE] I, Tyler Regas, the maestro of mayhem, will be presenting at this MacDayLA. I will be hosting breakfast and lunch discussions regarding OS virtualization on Mac OS X. I’ll be talking about using Apple’s Boot Camp, discussing rEFIt, and looking at Parallels and VMware’s ridiculously cool Fusion. If anyone is interested, we can also discuss the new Mac OS X server virtualization technologies coming out from Parallels.

Head on over to Certless and checkout a little piece I put together about VIA’s new little PC kit. I’ll just say that the case can’t hold a CD-ROM drive. You might even be able to cram it into a pocket, if they’re large enough.

Am I the only one who finds it hilarious that AT&T is completing their 3G network now, just ahead of the WWDC? In case you don’t see the humor, I find it a laugh riot because everyone was absolutely sure that the reason Apple didn’t include 3G in its first hardware release of the iPhone was over battery life considerations. Apple certainly wanted to guarantee a long battery life, yes? It appears that the answer to that would now be no. The new 3G iPhone is likely going to be thicker, meaning more radio and more battery, and there’s a switch which allows the owner to turn off 3G. So, if all of this turns out to be true, then the real reason Apple waited is so that AT&T could finish its 3G network. Did anyone have any clue that AT&T was still building their 3G network? I certainly didn’t!

I’m not sure I get the whole idea of a glossy black UMPC with chrome accents all around. It makes me wonder if they offer a gold trim version with a big image of Burt Reynolds on the back in his trademark Pontiac Trans-Am with the giant eagle on the hood. Its almost a nostaligia piece, which makes the latest news regarding the mega-wide device even more surprising. WiBrain is now starting to offer solid-state drives (SSD) in the B1. They will come in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB versions and will be priced at US$383, US$528, and US$576 respectively. I honestly doubt I could keep myself from yelling, “10-4, good buddy! Its a convoy!” if I had to use this thing.

My apologies, kind readers. I’ve been swamped with some project work and jury duty, all of which has made it tough to keep the updates flowing. I’ve got some interesting items coming up and as time marches on we can only get closer to what will likely be deemed the craziest of WWDCs. Hang in there. I should have some stuff up today. In the meantime, go read Certless!

Garmin, the huge GPS company, has rolled out a line of accessories for OQO’s kick ass Model 02, the original recipe UMPC. You can pick up the vehicle mount, the Garmin Mobile PC basic kit, or the wacked out, full-on bundle which features the first two as well as a vehicle charger. I’m not convinced. I’d really rather not leave my US$2K+ 02 on the dashboard of anything when I’m not around.

You could say that Sprint has had a Microsoftian drag on delivering its WiMAX project which will supposedly kick off in Baltimore and Washington D.C. later this year. To keep the the momentum going, at least that’s my guess, Sprint trotted out hardware partner Samsung to pimp their XOHM-compatible gear, namely the E100 PC Card and the Q1 UMPC with embedded WiMAX. Its just a wordy press release, but you can read it here.

As we get closer to the “hallowed” event for this year, the iRumormill has been ratcheted up. First, I don’t think there’s any question that the 3G iPhone will be out soon. Stock of existing First Generation handsets have petered out and refurbs are selling for dirt cheap. AT&T slipped and added a reference to a black version of the iPhone to its website, and mistakenly responded by saying that it was a placeholder. I certainly didn’t fall for that. Then, out of nowhere, the Intel chief for Germany comes out and says that there “is” a somewhat larger iPhone powered by Intel’s new Atom CPU, bringing with it suggestions that the Newton MessagePad has been revived. As always, only time can tell.

I have the very strong feeling that what I am about to reveal is likely already known. I’ve certainly made no effort to hide it, and it doesn’t come anywhere close to being as groundbreaking as unveiling who Fake Steve Jobs was. I, Tyler Regas, am MoboDojo. I am the Sensei and back in the day I was the PDA Handyman. I’ve long made an effort to make The Dojo, and PHM before it, much more than a simple blog, and in that admission I am also revealing that I’ve always felt that being a blogger made me less of a journalist. I’m not going to do that any more. From here on out, I will blog as myself and you will get my impressions and opinions, not those of some nebulous, omnipresent, non-existent “we”.

In other words, I’m not going to change a thing.

I did want to make it clear to my readers, though, that since its only me, myself, and I, that its not always easy to post as consistently and voluminously as sites like Gizmodo and Engadget do. This is why I’m very careful to select only those items which I am interested in, and if you share my enthusiasm then you very well might like what I have to say about it. To affect this oh so subtle change I have combed the site to make changes in how The Dojo is described. You’ll also note that, in the title, I now refer to blogging. Yes. I’ve bought it hook, line, and sinker. I’m a blogger. PLUG: Check out Certless!
