That little device sitting on to of the Asus Eee PC which is sitting on top of some full-sized laptop in the image to the left is the result of the Pandora Project. Its a computer. Its a laptop. Its an internet device. Its a gaming machine. It looks a lot like a Nintendo DS, but its not. The project itself is the result of a group of people working together to create the first 100% open sourced mobile gaming device, and they’re getting very close. Check out the site and then swing over to this Engadget story for some video of it in operation. Its also been revealed that the finished version will be available before the Christmas season this year and its priced at £199.99 (that’s in the UK) and the first round will offer only 3,000 units. This suggests that there will be more, but no word on a US launch.
