Packard Bell, a blast from the past which no longer officially operates in the US, has jumped onto the netbook bandwagon with its new adorably named Dot. PB’s tack, however, is to pitch the Dot as a tool for socializing. Bwah? Technically, though, the Dot rocks. The Dot features a 1024×600 8.9″ widescreen display, an Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, 3 USB ports of unspecified speed though likely 2.0, a webcam above the screen, integrated card reader and wi-fi. There are also options for a 6-cell battery and a 3G wireless module. Its going to price at €399 for the EU market. No word on a US release.
