@ The Mobile World Conference: i-Mate, one of Microsoft’s quieter OEMs, has announced a new handset, the 810-F, which is what i-Mate is calling the “World’s first lifestyle mobile with a lifetime warranty”. In fact, the name of the device is also its MilSpec designation (MIL-STD-810F, for those who like to look up stuff), but don’t let that fool you. This handset is reportedly designed for adventurous people and not for military use. Aside from being able to get dunked, be frozen, and cooked, its a fully featured smartphone running WinMo 6.1. The 810-F is a GSP/HSDPA capable device which sports a 320×240 touchscreen display, 2.2GB of internal storage, 128MBs of RAM, a 624MHz CPU, integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, a digital compass and accelerometer, and a 2MP camera. There are no additional details yet, but i-Mate will be offering Secure i-Q, which is a service allowing you to remotely lock and/or wipe the device in case its stolen, ala Blackberry Enterprise Server. It should be available at retailers in the coming weeks, according to i-Mate.
