Pocket PC That Supports Linux, Java
Posted by Tyler Regas on August 16, 2002 12:04 AM
Well, that provides a conundrum in that it depends on what you want more, the OS or the platform. If you want the OS more, which would be Pocket PC, then you will only be able to support Java. That comes courtesy of Insignia in the form of the Jeode Java runtime for handheld devices, though that courtesy has a price. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a Pocket PC device to convert into a Linux portable, look at either the HP owned, Compaq badged iPAQ or consider the smarter move to the Sharp Zaurus SL-5500. The iPAQ can be modified using files from Handhelds.org and you can find Zauri priced here. I hope that this helps you, Julie. Email This Story

Julie's question is: "I am looking to buy a Pocket PC that can support Linux and Java and wondered if you could advise me on what is available?"
