Phillips Targets XScale For Multimedia Devices
Posted by Tyler Regas on September 03, 2002 11:39 AM Phillips has announced that it will begin offering design and OEM services to companies seeking XScale based multimedia devices. The core designs will use Phillip's Pronto++ environment and/or Windows CE, the relationship of which was not made clear in the release. Phillips will either design and build or simply offer consultation and/or OEM services as well as design and release a line of branded products. The only indication of what Phillips envisioned as possibilities for such devices was this small list: television guides, Web browsers, remote controls, and Java gaming devices. Phillips already markets a line of sophisticated programmable remote controls under the Pronto name. We will try to get you more details and publish them as they become available. Email This Story
