Micron Demos SyncFlash Memory
Posted by Tyler Regas on September 24, 2002 12:19 PM Micron Technology demonstrated their working reference platform for their SyncFlash memory technology at the Communications Design Conference held in San Jose, CA this week. The reference platform incorporates the memory technology and Intel's XScale platform, purportedly allowing developers to integrate it into their designs. Motorola and Sharp have also created reference platforms based on their own processor implementations. Among various demonstrations was a Motorola MX1 running EPOC32 directly from SyncFlash. Micron claims that benchmarks indicate a 500% increase in performance over traditional Flash RAM. The technology also supposedly eliminates the need to copy ROM files over the ROM in order to run. More details on the memory technology are available here. Email This Story
