Newton Mailing List Facts
Posted by Tyler Regas on October 14, 2002 02:46 PM The Apple Newton MessagePad, besides having a very long product name, has the distinction of being the first real PDA available to consumers (the Zoomer doesn't count. It didn't synchronize). While it didn't make a big enough splash to avoid Steve Jobs project scythe in 1997, it did leave an impression on the world. Probably best known for its early iterations of handwriting recognition which was very bad, the Newton can now be known for something rather amazing. In the last 24 hour period, there have been 334 posts made to the NewtonTalk mailing list. If you would like to join, go here. You might also want to take a peek at the OpeNEwt project messageboards.
