Wish List: Walter Glenn
Posted by Tyler Regas on November 30, 2001 10:16 AM

I spend most of the year helping other people get what they need, so my Christmas lists are always just about me.

1. A ViewSonic airpanel V150 and for them to be available by Christmas. I've been waiting for good tablet PC's for so long I'd almost forgotten how excited I was about getting one.

2. I know it's gimmicky, but if the SANYO SCP-5300 cell phone with built in digital camera and viewing screen will let me take a snap of some product in the store, send it to my wife to see if I'm buying the right thing, and give me all the other Internet-enabled phone goodies, count me in.

3. OK, a easy request. I want someone to design a simple hierarchical list program for my Pocket PC that can synchronize with multiple hierarchical task folders in Outlook. I use different task folders to track books I'm writing and I use subfolders to hold tasks for individual chapters. Doesn't seem too hard, does it?

4. When I had kids, I gave up my motorcycle - a '91 Virago that took me twice around the country. I've eyed a few over the years, but recently Corbin's Merlin Roadster caught my eye. Picture a Harley, add a second front wheel, doors, luxurious leather interior, and steering wheel and you start getting the idea. If Harley made a go-kart. $24,000 and you can check it out here.

5. For the times when the kids have to ride with me, a Toyota Prius. You know, the super-efficient hybrid that gets 52 on the highway and still manages to ride like a Toyota. I also want it equipped with in-dash DVD and navigational system, Satelite radio, and a way to plug my e740 Pocket PC into the dash - even if I have to build that last part myself.

6. The Lego Mindstorm Robotics Invention System 2.0 with the Vision Command and Ultimate Accessory Kit. Who wouldn't? Check them out here.

7. The La Scala tub, by Jacuzzi. Double the size of a standard bathtub, nicely handled seating for 4, and a built in 42 inch plasma display with integrated CD and DVD. Oh, and a floating remote control.

8. That overstuffed leather chair and ottoman you see in all the Bose ads.
If anyone knows the manufacturer, please let me know!

9. I am passionate about movies and equally dispassionate about theatres, so I'm just going to make my own. I have my ideal sound setup (which I won't bore you with here), a good room for holding a bunch of movie lovers, and am lusting after only one final component. The 60" plasma High Definition Zenith TV. All that and only 4" deep. Yum.

10. The E-20N, Olympus' first entry into the 5-megapixel SLR digital camera market. Actually, this one is mostly for my wife. She used to be a professional photographer, and still practices once in a while. I'm hoping a knock-out of a first digital camera will get her excited again.
